Professional Development Facilitator

...Helping Teachers, Students, and School Communities Grow

Research shows that “traditional” professional development for educators is rarely effective and shows limited impact on student growth and achievement.  The two main reasons for the minimal impact are due to the fact that teachers have to absorb the information given in a short amount of time and adapt it to work for their classrooms.  When they return and attempt implementation, the lack of support and high demands on teachers’ time and energy make it difficult for teachers to wrestle with the growing pains of implementing something new.  Therefore, they return to their comfort zone and forget what was acquired during the professional development opportunity. I use a professional development cycle instead of the “traditional” approach in an effort to combat some of the aforementioned patterns in hopes of supporting teachers and schools to achieve authentic, lasting change.
